Wickers Fire Resistant T-shirt Earns USDA Certified Biobased Product Label

Commack, N.Y. (May 07, 2012) –
Wickers Performance Wear, worldwide leader in the production of innovative performance fabrics for fire resistant base layer garments, has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product label for its Wickers FR T-shirts. The USDA Certified Biobased Product label verifies that the Wickers FR T-shirts contain 97% of renewable biobased ingredients which meets or exceeds prescribed USDA standards. Biobased products are goods composed in whole or in significant part of agricultural, forestry, or marine materials.

"We are pleased that Wickers Performance Wear has earned the USDA Certified Biobased Product label," said Ron Buckhalt, USDA BioPreferred Program Manager. "Biobased products provide opportunities to help add value to renewable commodities; create jobs in rural communities and generate investment income."

All biobased amount claims are verified by independent labs and monitored by the USDA. Consumers may feel secure in the accuracy of the biobased amount and be empowered in making better informed purchasing decisions.

In addition to being 97% biobased made from Merino Wool and Wood, Lenzing FR and Merino Wool are both high performance fibers that deliver unique and highly valuable benefits that make our FR base layer garments safer,, cooler, drier and more comfortable for those who expect to perform under strenuous and physically challenging conditions.

In addition to the FR T-shirt Wickers intends to apply for USDA BioPreferred Product label Certification for its other FR base layer garments such as Long underwear top and bottoms, boxers and ski hoods.
